Le programme Grundtvig a donc clairement réussi à jeter les bases d’une dimension européenne de l'éducation des adultes, secteur qui ne possédait quasiment aucune tradition de coopération européenne et qui était caractérisé par une relative faiblesse de l’infrastructure institutionnelle, une proportion élevée de personnel à temps partiel et bénévole et des profils très différents d’un pays à l’autre.
Grundtvig has thus clearly succeeded in sowing the seeds of a European dimension in adult education – a sector with almost no tradition of European cooperation hitherto and marked by a relatively weak institutional infrastructure, a high proportion of part-time and voluntary staff and strongly disparate profiles from one country to another.
