Alors que cette déclaration était extrêmement positive et paraissait assez spectaculaire à ce moment-là, il faut bien comprendre que ces augmentations sont relativement modestes: la participation financière de l’Union européenne se situe déjà à quelque 850 millions d’euros à l’heure actuelle, alors que celle des États membres - s’ils tiennent leur engagement - passera de 300 millions d’euros à un milliard d’euros.
While this is all most welcome and sounded quite dramatic at the time of the announcement, we have to realise that the increases are quite modest in substance: the European Union’s contribution will increase from a base of around EUR 850 million at the moment to EUR 1 billion, while the Member States – if they deliver – will go from EUR 300 million to a EUR 1 billion.
