The Commission has today taken the following decision : The Commission : - decides that its decision of 29 March 1988 has not been correctly executed by the French authorities and that the authorisation of the aids amounting to FF 20 bn is null and void; - informs the French Government of this decison and requests it to inform the Commission within 3 months of the measures which it proposes to take to comply with this decision; - notes the indications of the latest position of the French Government most recently in their letter of 13 November, expresses the hope that this will result in satisfactory proposals from the French Government but states that, in the absence of such proposals, the French Government should be required to recover from Renault FF 12 bn. - decides that, in the absence of a reply or in case of an unsatisfactory reply within the time indicated, the matter would be referred to the European Court of Justice.
