Reiterates its position that the review should preserve the independence of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and opposes any attempts to upgrade the OHCHR to the same status as the other UN agencies as this could impact negatively on the funding and consequently on the independence; welcomes the recent appointment of a UN Secretary General Assistant on Human Rights who will lead the OHCHR office in New York ; this new office will help strengthen contact, dialogue and transparency between the UN General Assembly and the UNHCR; underlines the need to ensure sufficient funding to keep regional OHCHR offices open, so that they may be able to continue their work on the ground;
