Certains symptômes schizophréniques positifs ou négatifs doivent encore être présents, mais ne dominent plus le tableau clinique. Ce type d'état dépressif s'accompagne d'un risque accru de suicide. Si le patient ne présente plus aucun symptôme schizophrénique, on doit faire un diagnostic d'épisode dépressif (F32.-). Si les symptômes schizophréniques restent florides et au premier plan de la symptomatologie, on doit garder le diagnostic de la forme clinique appropriée de schizophrénie (F20.0-F20.3).
Definition: A depressive episode, which may be prolonged, arising in the aftermath of a schizophrenic illness.
