(Return tabled) Question No. 22 Mr. Joe Fontana: What projects has the government undertaken, or does it plan to undertake, in the fields of science and research from 2002-2003 to the forecasted fiscal year of 2007-2008, and, in each case and for each ministry or department involved: (a) how much was disbursed; (b) were the projects partnered with (i) private firms, (ii) public firms, (iii) academic institutions; (c) what was the specific purpose of the disbursement; and (d) what is the projected duration of the project, and, if the program has been discontinued, cancelled, suspended or not renewed since February 1, 2006, what is the reason for the action taken?

L'Union européenne prend note que, conformément aux dispositions de l'accord négocié par l'ensemble de la classe politique zaïroise, des portefeuilles ministériels étaient disponibles pour tous les partis et que deux postes ministériels ont été réservés pour le Parti de M. Tshisekedi.
The European Union notes that, under the terms of the agreement negotiated by the entire political class in Zaire, ministerial posts are available to all parties and two ministerial posts are reserved for Mr Tshisekedi's party.

A cette occasion, le 27.7.94, l'Union Européenne avait pris note que, conformément aux dispositions de l'accord négocié par l'ensemble de la classe politique zaïroise, des portefeuilles ministériels étaient disponibles pour tous les partis. En même temps, l'Union Européenne avait exprimé l'espoir que l'installation de ce gouvernement se traduise par des actes concrets en vue de permettre une réelle démocratisation du pays et d'arrêter rapidement la détérioration continue de la situation économique et sociale dont est victime la population zaïroise.
In a statement issued on 27 July, the European Union noted that the government had honoured its undertaking to distribute ministerial portfolios among all the parties, and expressed the hope that the new political situation would produce practical measures to democratize the country and halt the ongoing economic and social slide.
