Commends the promptness of the Court of Auditors in making its public presentation of its 2001 annual report within the Committee on Budgetary Control in early November 2002, thus enabling the members of the Committee to start work early enough in order to be able to prepare for the debate held in plenary the following month; strongly recommends that this procedure be made the general rule and that the non-availability of all the language versions of the report should not be deemed an obstacle to its public presentation;

Monsieur le Président, je recommande vivement à l’Assemblée plénière d’apporter demain son soutien à la proposition de compromis afin que le processus législatif puisse être clôturé en une seule lecture.
I recommend that the plenary session tomorrow support the compromise package, so that the legislative process can be concluded in one reading.

Dans ce contexte la Commission s'engage entre autre : - à recommander vivement à ses Membres d'établir, en coordination avec le Commissaire chargé des relations avec le Comité, des contacts réguliers avec le CES en prenant part aux travaux des sections et des sessions plénières; - à inviter ses Membres à participer à certaines réunions des Groupes afin d'entamer, grâce à des contacts directs et informels, un dialogue ouvert et constructif de compréhension réciproque; - à demander à ses représentants d'exposer devant les différentes instances du Conseil, les points essentiels de l'avis du CES, dont la Commission aurait tenu compte pour modifier sa proposition; - à promouvoir les initiatives du Comité pouvant être utilisées par la Commission pour des propositions normatives dans les domaines social et économiqe.
In this connection, the Commission is undertaking to: - recommend to its members that, in coordination with the Commission member responsible for relations with the Committe, they establish regular contacts with the Committee, taking part in the work of its sections and attending its plenary meetings; - call on its members to participate in some meetings of the working parties, so as to open, thanks to direct and informal contacts, a frank and constructive dialogue of reciprocal understanding; - to request that its representatives explain to the various Council bodies the essential points of a Committee opinion which the Commission has taken int oaccount in amending a proposal; - promote those Committee initiatives which the Commission coul use for regulative proposals in the social and economic fields.
