There are some positive aspects to this Commission proposal, particularly as regards the possibility for approving multiannual programmes, even though this development is of course inevitable given the entry into force of Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 of 29 April 2004 (Article 41), whose timescale for implementation in this context will be 2008. It might therefore appear likely that the current amending proposal will be in force for only one year.
