Le sénateur Nolin : Je comprends cette dimension et je pense que c'est fort utile, cela permettra, à la limite, une cogestion sur la souveraineté d'un territoire sur lequel on ne s'entend pas, mais il n'en reste pas moins qu'au sujet du territoire en question, à moins qu'on en arrive à un règlement — et je n'ai pas l'impression qu'on n'arrive à ce règlement —, les deux pays vont éternellement être divergents sur la propriété ou la souveraineté de ce triangle au fond de la mer de Beaufort, et nous devrons nous satisfaire d'une cogestion harmonieuse de ce territoire.
Senator Nolin: I understand that aspect and I think it is highly useful. It will ultimately permit joint management of the sovereignty of a territory over which we do not agree, but the fact remains that, with regard to the territory in question, unless we reach a settlement — and I do not get the impression we are reaching a settlement — the two countries will eternally disagree over ownership of or sovereignty over that wedge at the bottom of the Beaufort Sea and we will have to be satisfied with harmonious joint management of that territory.
