Following the answer to question H-0866/08 on the (possible) expiry on 31 December 2008 of the joint surveillance system regarding exports from China to various EU Member States of certain categories of textile and clothing products, and in view of the increasing number of firms folding or relocating production (especially in Portugal), leaving behind a trail of unemployment and social crises, can the Commission state whether any Member State has proposed or requested that it prolong the validity of the dual surveillance mechanism beyond 31 December 2008 or that it adopt any other measures in that framework?

À la suite de sa réponse à la question H-0866/08 sur l'expiration (éventuelle), au 31 décembre 2008,du système commun de surveillance des exportations de certaines catégories de produits du textile et de l'habillement en provenance de Chine vers différents pays de l'Union européenne, et compte tenu du nombre croissant d'entreprises qui ferment leurs portes ou délocalisent leur production – notamment au Portugal–, laissant derrière elles chômage et situations sociales dramatiques, la Commission pourrait-elle répondre aux questions suivantes: l'un ou l'autre État membre a-t-il proposé ou demandé à la Commission européenne la prorogation du mécanisme de double surveillance au-delà du 31 décembre 2008, ou l'adoption d'autres mesures dans ce cadre?
