11. fait part de ses vives préoccupations quant à la destruction et au pillage systématiques et délibérés de sites archéologiques de grande valeur qui font partie du patrimoine mondial, et ce dans le but de déstabiliser les populations en sapant leur identité culturelle, par des organisations terroristes et des groupes belligérants qui se livrent au commerce illégal d'œuvres d'art volées pour financer leurs activités violentes; invite dès lors la Commission à coopérer avec les Nations unies et l'UNESCO afin de lutter contre le commerce illégal de trésors artistiques issus des zones de conflit et de mettre en place des initiatives destinées à protéger le patrimoine culturel de ces zones; demande à la Commission de reconnaître la destruction délibérée du patrimoine collectif de l'humanité en tant que crime contre l'humanité et d'engager les poursuites judiciaires qui conviennent à cet égard;
11. Expresses its deep concern at the deliberate and systematic destruction and looting of valuable archaeological sites which form part of the world heritage carried out with the aim of destabilising populations and undermining their cultural identity by terrorist organisations and warring groups which finance their violent activities by means of illegal trade in stolen artworks; calls, therefore, on the Commission, in cooperation with the UN and UNESCO, to combat illegal trading in art treasures from war zones and to devise initiatives to protect the cultural heritage in such zones; calls on the Commission to classify the deliberate destruction of the collective human heritage as a crime against humanity and to take legal action against it accordingly;

Recognises that cultural heritage plays a vital role in several of the Europe 2020 flagship initiatives, such as the Digital Agenda, the Innovation Union, the Agenda for New Skills and Jobs and the industrial policy for the globalisation era; calls, therefore, for greater recognition of the role of European cultural heritage as a strategic resource for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth in the mid-term review of the Europe 2020 strategy;
