Dans le contexte de 2018, Année européenne du patrimoine culturel, la Commission organise aujourd'hui une conférence à haut niveau sur le thème «Innovation et patrimoine culturel» dans le cadre du programme Horizon 2020, pour présenter quelques-unes des innovations les plus prometteuses en lien avec la préservation et la valorisation du patrimoine culturel européen à l'intention des générations futures.
In the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, the Commission is today organising a High-Level Horizon 2020 Conference on Innovation and Cultural Heritage to present some of the most promising innovations to preserve and treasure Europe's cultural heritage for the next generations.

9. Underlines the potential for boosting cultural tourism in rural, island, coastal and mountainous regions which offer intact nature and landscapes, regional or minority languages and dialects, traditional culture (traditional folk arts, costumes, handcrafts, local festivals, a mobility culture, gastronomic traditions), local artisanal products and services, authenticity, industrial and agricultural heritage, and the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities; points out that cultural tourism in these regions helps to diversify traditional economic activities and encourage local populations to remain, thereby averting depopulation and the abandonment and deterioration of many valuable cultural sites and preventing traditions and customs from dying out; calls on the Member States to develop sustainable intermodal infrastructure and improve cross-border connectivity – including the development of new information and communication technologies, such as integrated travel planning and ticketing services – as a means of enhancing the appeal and accessibility by air, sea, road and rail of tourist destinations in general and of smaller and remote tourist destinations in particular;

to designate, preferably for 2018, a European Year of Cultural Heritage, with an adequate budget and with the aim, amongst other things, of disseminating and increasing awareness and education among future generations in respect of the values of the European cultural heritage and its protection, and to submit the draft programme for the European Year to Parliament no later than 2016;

(9) En plus de renforcer le sentiment d'appartenance à l'Union européenne chez les citoyens de l'Union et de stimuler le dialogue interculturel, une action de l'Union en faveur du label du patrimoine européen pourrait aussi contribuer à mettre en valeur le patrimoine culturel et à souligner son intérêt; à accroître le rôle du patrimoine dans le développement économique et durable des régions, en particulier à travers le tourisme culturel; à encourager les synergies entre le patrimoine culturel, d'une part, et la création et la créativité contemporaines, d'autre part; à faciliter le partage des expériences et des bonnes pratiques dans toute l'Europe; et, plus généralement, à promouvoir les valeurs démocratiques et les droits de l'homme qui sous-tendent l'intégration européenne.
(9) In addition to strengthening EU citizens‘ sense of belonging to the Union and stimulating intercultural dialogue, a Union action for the European Heritage Label could also contribute to enhancing the value and profile of cultural heritage, to increasing the role of heritage in the economic and sustainable development of regions, in particular through cultural tourism, to fostering synergies between cultural heritage and contemporary creation and creativity, to facilitating the sharing of experiences and best practices across Europe, and more generally, to promoting the democratic values and human rights that underpin European integration.

(63) L'adoption de la présente directive ne saurait empêcher les États membres de prendre en compte les différentes implications sociales, sociétales et culturelles inhérentes à l'avènement de la société de l'information. En particulier, elle ne devrait pas porter atteinte aux mesures destinées à atteindre des objectifs sociaux, culturels et démocratiques que les États membres pourraient adopter, conformément au droit communautaire, en tenant compte de leur diversité linguistique, des spécificités nationales et régionales ainsi que de leurs patrimoines culturels, et à assurer et à maintenir l'accès du public à un éventail le plus large possible de services de la société de l'information. Le développement de la société de l'information doit assurer, en tout état de cause, l'accès des citoyens de la Communauté au patrimoine culturel européen fourni dans un environnement numérique.
(63) The adoption of this Directive will not prevent the Member States from taking into account the various social, societal and cultural implications which are inherent in the advent of the information society; in particular it should not hinder measures which Member States might adopt in conformity with Community law to achieve social, cultural and democratic goals taking into account their linguistic diversity, national and regional specificities as well as their cultural heritage, and to ensure and maintain public access to the widest possible range of information society services; in any case, the development of the information society is to ensure that Community citizens can have access to the cultural European heritage provided in the digital environment.
