The proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending, as regards information to the general public on medicinal products subject to medicinal prescription, Directive 2001/83/EC on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use (COM (2008)0663 final) aims to provide for a clear legal framework for consumer information on prescription-only medicines with a view of promoting better patient choices when deciding on possible treatments.

Les patients seront en effet nettement mieux informés des médicaments à usage humain disponibles sur le marché grâce à la création d’une base de données contenant des informations détaillées et à jour et grâce à la traduction des notices dans toutes les langues de l’Union européenne.
