IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Le 22 mai 2001, le Parlement européen et le Conseil ont adopté la décision n° 1346/2001/CE[9] modifiant les orientations adoptées en 1996 en ce qui concerne les ports maritimes, les ports de navigation intérieure et les terminaux intermodaux ainsi que le projet n° 8 de l’annexe III. Cette décision précise que les points d'interconnexion incluant des ports maritimes, des ports intérieurs et des terminaux intermodaux constituent une condition préalable à l'intégration des différents modes de transport dans un réseau multimodal.
Decision No. 1346/2001/EC[9], amending the guidelines adopted in 1996 as regards seaports, inland ports and intermodal terminals, as well as project No. 8 in Annex III, was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council on 22 May 2001. The Decision states that interconnection points, including seaports, inland ports and intermodal terminals, are a pre-condition for the integration of the different transport modes in a multimodal network.

Encouraging and increasing modal shift and decongesting transport corridors: development of sustainable innovative, intermodal and interoperable regional and national transport and logistics networks, infrastructures and systems in Europe; cost internalisation; information exchange between vehicle/vessel and transport infrastructure; optimisation of infrastructure capacity; modal shift strategies to encourage energy efficient means of transport.

Actions clés: L'UE et les États membres devraient veiller à rendre plus attrayantes les solutions de remplacement de la route pour le transport de marchandises et de passagers, notamment en développant les réseaux transeuropéens et les nœuds intermodaux pour le fret, afin de faciliter la transition des marchandises entre la route, le rail et les voies navigables.
Key actions: The EU and its Member States should focus on making alternatives to road transport a more attractive option for freight and passengers, including by developing the Trans-European Networks and intermodal links for freight logistics, to allow goods to shift easily between road, rail, and water transport.
