1. Le Contrôleur européen de la protection des données est chargé de surveiller et d’assurer l’application des dispositions du présent règlement concernant la protection des libertés et droits fondamentaux des personnes physiques à l’égard des traitements de données opérationnelles à caractère personnel effectués par le Parquet européen, ainsi que de conseiller le Parquet européen et les personnes concernées pour toutes les questions concernant le traitement des données opérationnelles à caractère personnel.
1. The European Data Protection Supervisor shall be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the application of the provisions of this Regulation relating to the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons with regard to processing of operational personal data by the EPPO, and for advising the EPPO and data subjects on all matters concerning the processing of operational personal data.

Expresses doubts about the cost-efficiency argument put forward in the proposal, as the European Public Prosecutor’s Office needs to set up specialist departments, one for each Member State, which will have to have profound knowledge of the national legal framework in order to carry out effective investigations and prosecutions; calls for an analysis to be carried out in order to assess the costs to the EU budget of setting up the EPPO and any spillover into the Member States’ budgets; calls for such an analysis to be carried out in order to assess the benefits as well;
