6. The EU recalls that peace in the Middle East should be comprehensive and reiterates the importance of negotiations on the Israel-Syria and Israel-Lebanon tracks.

Notes that four working groups have been set up in Shepherdstown to discuss simultaneously the various chapters of the Israeli-Syrian peace process; hopes that the discussions can resume as soon as possible and urges Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad and the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to work ceaselessly to reopen these contacts and negotiations;

L'Union européenne rappellera également que la recherche d'une paix globale et durable dans la région nécessite que soient dûment pris en compte les volets israélo-syrien et israélo-libanais du conflit, dont la résolution doit s'inspirer des mêmes principes.
The European Union will also point out that the quest for a global and lasting peace in the region means taking due account of the Israeli-Syrian and Israeli-Lebanese aspects of the conflict, which must be resolved on the basis of the same principles.

Les Ministres se sont également déclarés très conscients que la recherche d'une paix globale et durable dans la région postule que soient repris aussitôt que possible les discussions sur les volets israélo-syrien et israélo-libanais, dont la résolution doit s'inspirer des principes énoncés précédemment.
The Ministers also said they were very conscious of the fact that the search for a comprehensive and lasting peace in the region assumes that discussions will be restarted at the earliest opportunity on the Israeli-Syrian and Israeli-Lebanese tracks, the resolution of which should be based on the principles set out earlier.
