Depuis 1979, soit près de quarante ans, un outil informatique, le système d'alerte rapide pour les denrées alimentaires et les aliments pour animaux (RASFF), permet aux autorités nationales d'échanger, dans des délais très courts, des informations sur les risques sanitaires liés à des denrées alimentaires ou aliments pour animaux.
Launched nearly four decades ago, in 1979, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) is primarily an IT tool designed to swiftly exchange information between national authorities on health risks related to food and feed.

Il s'agira notamment d'aider les écoles à accéder à des connexions très rapides à haut débit, de développer un nouvel outil d'autoévaluation (SELFIE) élaboré par la Commission afin d'aider les écoles à mieux utiliser les technologies à des fins d'enseignement et d'apprentissage, ainsi que de mener une campagne de sensibilisation en faveur de la sécurité en ligne, de l'hygiène informatique et de l'éducation aux médias.
Measures will include supporting schools with high-speed broadband connections, scaling up SELFIE, a new self-assessment tool developed by the Commission to help schools better use technology for teaching and learning and a public awareness campaign on online safety, cyber hygiene and media literacy.

Agrees with the Court of Auditors that the Commission has introduced effective new front-office IT tools which have substantially improved the interaction with beneficiaries, led to less administrative burden for both sides and helped to avoid the risk of potential duplication of funding; is concerned, however, that a substantial challenge remains, i.e. the optimisation of back-office IT tools which ensures a further reduction of the administrative burden and to guarantee an effective interlink between the modules used by the different DGs; embraces the work on the common back-office IT tool (SYGMA) and the common electronic workflow tool (Compass), which has started well in advance and should ensure that these will be available for Horizon 2020;

Acknowledges that 26 out of the 54 recommendations made by the Internal Audit Service (IAS) have been implemented since 2006; notes that, amongst the 28 which still need to be implemented, eight are considered to be ‘very important’; in particular, urges the Foundation to put in place the remaining internal control standards (i.e. delegation for financial actors), to follow up the implementation of other internal control standards (i.e. effective coordination of the internal control system and compliance of procurement procedures with the Financial Regulation and its implementing rules), and to introduce an effective planning and monitoring system (e.g. by setting up a risk assessment system in respect of the Foundation's activities, putting in place an activity-based methodology and monitoring IT tools);

Another challenge is to ensure that all users are able to use the IT-tool as required, i.e. including those who work in areas where there is hardly any CPC related activity. Some Member States would like the CPCS to incorporate multi-lingual interfaces.
