Le 22 décembre 2000, PO Stena Line et ses sociétés mères, Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co et Stena Line Ltd, ont demandé le renouvellement de l'exemption qui leur avait été accordée en application de l'article 81, paragraphe 3, du traité CE, disposition qui permet à la Commission d'autoriser des accords et des pratiques de prime abord anticoncurrentiels pour autant qu'ils contribuent à améliorer la production ou la distribution de services tout en réservant aux utilisateurs une part équitable du profit qui en résulte.
On 22 December 2000, PO Stena Line and its parents, Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co and Stena Line Ltd, applied for a renewed exemption under article 81(3) of the EC Treaty, which allows the Commission to clear prima-face anti-competitive agreements and practices which contribute to improving production or supply of services while allowing consumers a fair share of the benefits.
