Si, à la suite d’une première détermination effectuée conformément au protocole d’observation prévu dans le schéma 1 ou 2, selon le cas, le nombre total de particules animales d’une nature donnée (c’est-à-dire dérivées d’animaux terrestres ou de poissons) qui sont détectées varie de 1 à 5, une deuxième détermination doit être effectuée à partir d’un nouveau sous-échantillon de 50 g. If, following a first determination carried out in accordance with the observation protocols laid down in diagram 1 or in diagram 2 as relevant, the total number of animal particles of a given nature (i.e. terrestrial animal or fish) detected ranges from 1 to 5, a second determination shall be performed from a new 50 g sub-sample. If, following this second determination, the number of animal particles of this given nature detected ranges from 0 to 5, the result of the analysis shall be reported using the terminology laid down in point 2.1.5.2., else a third determination shall be carried out from a new 50 g sub-sample. Nevertheless, if following the first and the second determination, the sum of the particles of a given nature detected over the two determinations is higher than 15, no additional determination is necessary and the result of the analysis shall be directly reported using the terminology laid down in point 2.1.5.3.

Ce nouveau protocole est basé sur les résultats de l'étude d'évaluation des stocks ivoiriens, fondée sur un chalutage scientifique réalisé en 2002, et l'évaluation intérimaire/ex-post du protocole précédent ainsi qu'une analyse sectorielle de la filière en Côte d'Ivoire qui contient une analyse ex-ante du nouveau protocole effectuée au début 2004.
This new protocol is based on the results of a survey of Côte d'Ivoire stocks drawn up following a scientific trawl carried out in 2002, and on the interim/ex-post assessment of the previous protocol together with a sectoral analysis of the industry in Côte d’Ivoire, which contains an ex-ante analysis of the new protocol conducted at the beginning of 2004.

Celles prévues par le nouveau protocole représentent une majoration substantielle par rapport au précédent, tant au niveau du nombre de navires autorisés à pêcher, qu'au niveau du poids de capture de thonidés autorisé, chiffre qui est passé de 5.000 tonnes par an dans le protocole précédent à 7.000 tonnes par an, soit une augmentation de 40%. Si les captures annuelles de thonidés effectuées dépassent cette quantité, le montant de la contrepartie financière est majoré proportionnellement.
The fishing possibilities in the new protocol show a considerable increase compared to those in the former protocol not only in the number of ships allowed to fish but also in terms of allowable catches of tuna that go up from 5000 tonnes in the previous protocol to currently 7000 tonnes per year, representing an increase of 40%. If the annual amount of tuna caught exceeds this quantity, the compensation will be increased proportionally.
