Quand on pense à la place qu'occupe cette partie de la Nouvelle-Écosse dans l'histoire canadienne, où a été établie la première colonie permanente en Amérique du Nord, en 1604, ou quand on pense au rôle que les Franco-Manitobains ont joué dans l'histoire du pays, avant et après la Confédération, il est clair qu'en les excluant, aux termes de la supposée approche territoriale, nous trahirions un chapitre important de notre histoire et nous renoncerions à un élément précieux de notre identité.
When one thinks of the place in Canadian history occupied by that part of Nova Scotia, which had the first permanent settlement dating back to 1604, or when one thinks of the part played in our history before, during and since Confederation by the Franco-Manitobans, it is clear that to exclude them, as they would be excluded in the so-called territorial approach, would be to deny an important part of our history and to renounce a precious part of our identity.
