Mesdames et Messieurs, le privilège que vous nous avez accordé en partageant avec nous cette réflexion m'incite à vous dire que les millions de femmes et d'hommes de par le monde qui, à l'heure actuelle, vivent avec un dollar par jour attendent de l'Union européenne, des pays industrialisés, un effort pour partager avec les pauvres les bénéfices de la mondialisation en lui donnant un visage humain, ce qui permettra que les institutions démocratiques ne soient plus remises en question et que les pauvres ne perdent pas leur espoir en la démocratie.
Ladies and gentlemen, as you have been kind enough to give me the opportunity to speak, I would say that the millions of men and women in the world who are currently living on one dollar a day would like the European Union and other industrialised countries to make an effort to include the poor in the benefits of globalisation, giving it a human face, which would prevent the democratic institutions from being questioned and the poor from losing faith in democracy.
