La commission des affaires étrangères de notre Parlement avait élaboré dans le même esprit la recommandation rédigée par notre président, Elmar Brok, qui va être soumise à l'approbation de nos collègues.
In the same spirit, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy has worked on the recommendation drawn up by our chairman Elmar Brok. This will be submitted to our fellow members for approval.

I should particularly like to thank its President, Mr Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, for his work, but also the two Members in the Convention Praesidium, Iñigo Méndez de Vigo from our group and Klaus Hänsch from the Socialist Group, as well as our group spokesman, Elmar Brok.

- Madame la Présidente, Monsieur le Président en exercice du Conseil, Madame le Commissaire, au moment de donner, selon les recommandations de Raimon Obiols, notre avis conforme à la proposition d'accord d'association avec la République algérienne démocratique et populaire, notre commission des affaires étrangères, en la personne de son président, Elmar Brok, et avec l'accord de son bureau, a jugé nécessaire l'ouverture du débat qui nous rassemble aujourd'hui et qui sera suivi, demain, par l'adoption d'une résolution dont j'espère qu'elle recueillera l'assentiment d'une très large majorité de notre Assemblée.
– (FR) Madam President, President-in-Office of the Council, Commissioner, when giving our opinion, according to the recommendations of Mr Obiols, with regard to the proposal for an association agreement with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, our Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy, through the intermediary of its Chairman, Mr Brok, and with the agreement of its bureau, considered it necessary to open the debate that has brought us here today and which will be followed, tomorrow, by the adoption of a resolution that I hope will be voted for by a very large majority of this House.

Je tiens également à remercier chaleureusement nos membres du præsidium: Íñigo Méndez de Vigo et Klaus Hänsch, ainsi qu’Elmar Brok, le président de notre groupe, qui représentait tous les membres de notre groupe au sein de la Convention, et tous nos collègues de ladite Convention.
