The ICANN Protocol Supporting organisation (PSO) is concerned with the above technical standards and has the primary responsibility for developing and recommending substantive policies in the area of protocol parameter assignment and is the custodian of the invaluable legacy of the Internet's open specifications and standards, independent of the operating systems and platforms that are employed by the final Internet user.
