J'encourage le gouvernement actuel à accroître le budget dont le commissaire dispose à cause des nombreux problèmes cruciaux auxquels nous devons faire face: le nombre croissant de toxines relâchées dans l'atmosphère sans faire l'objet d'aucun contrôle, les dizaines de milliers de produits chimiques qui ne font encore l'objet d'aucune réglementation, le défi que représente la gestion de l'eau au Canada et la capacité du gouvernement à remplir son rôle à cet égard et enfin sa capacité d'oeuvrer pour l'ensemble du pays, ce qui est le rôle et la fonction du gouvernement fédéral.
I would encourage the present government to embellish the budget for the commissioner because there are so many critical matters facing us: the growing number of toxins being produced, emitted into the environment and not yet controlled; the challenge of tens of thousands of chemicals not yet regulated; the challenge with water management in Canada and whether the Government of Canada is carrying out its role in that avenue; and whether the Government of Canada is delivering in transboundary ways, which is the function and role of the federal government.
