– Having regard to the draft Council decision (06903/2010), having regard to the draft protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and of Romania to the European Union (09373/2008), having regard to the request for consent submitted by the Council in accordance with Article 217 and Article 218(6), second subparagraph, point (a), of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (C7-0384/2010), having regard to Rules 81, 90(8) and 46(1) of its Rules of Procedure, having regard to the recommendation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (A7-0373/2010), the Verts/ALE Group agreed that Parliament should give its consent to the conclusion of the protocol.

Par ailleurs, rappelons que la commission de la politique régionale avait déjà fait observer que la nouvelle stratégie à l'égard des pays tiers méditerranéens devait tenir compte de la nécessité d'intégrer les deux rives de la Méditerranée; en effet, cette mer constitue encore aujourd'hui une barrière qui fait du Sud de l'Union une région périphérique.
