B. whereas on 13 March 2015 Mohamed Nasheed, the first democratically elected president of the Maldives, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on politically motivated charges, and whereas this was condemned by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention; whereas his trial was marred by irregularities; whereas other former officials, including former vice-president Ahmed Adeeb and former defence ministers Mohamed Nazim and Tholhath Ibrahim, have also been arrested and imprisoned;

A. considérant que le premier président démocratiquement élu de la République des Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, accusé de "terrorisme", a été condamné vendredi 13 mars 2015 à treize ans de prison; considérant également que l'ancien ministre de la défense et un député ont été condamnés dans la même affaire d'arrestation, au cours de son mandat, d'un juge en chef (Chief judge) de la Cour pénale accusé de corruption en 2012; considérant que deux des trois juges de ce cas étaient également témoins contre Mohamed Nasheed pendant l'investigation;
