En ce qui me concerne, j'ai plutôt l'habitude de pratiquer le pessimisme de la raison et l'optimisme de la volonté, et si je cite cette belle phrase de Jean Monnet, c'est tout simplement pour faire écho à ce que disait tout à l'heure le ministre Michel, puisqu'il est indiqué qu'il confessait qu'il était en quelque sorte venu ici pour trouver les moyens d'une cure d'optimisme qui ne lui était pas prodiguée dans d'autres enceintes.
Personally, I tend rather to practise the pessimism of reason and the optimism of will, and the reason I quote this fine phrase from Jean Monnet is just to echo what Mr Michel was saying just now, as he confessed that, in a way, he had come here to find some optimism therapy that was not forthcoming elsewhere.
