Today Miguel Arias Cañete, the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, together with Mariano Rajoy, the Prime Minister of Spain, and Manuel Valls, the Prime Minister of France, and with the participation of José Manuel Soria López, the Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism and Mario Monti, European Coordinator of the project, attended the inauguration of the Santa Llogaia – Baixàs power line.

Au moment où la péninsule Ibérique occupe deux présidences importantes (le conseil de l’Union européenne avec le premier ministre espagnol José-Luis Rodriguez Zapatero et la commission européenne avec le portugais José-Manuel Barroso), je regrette que la Présidence espagnole n’ait pas apporté la preuve de sa capacité à apporter une valeur ajoutée politique sur les relations avec le continent américain hors USA et Canada.

Ces travaux conduits de façon sereine et constructive - sous l'égide des deux co-présidents de la Conférence, le premier ministre fidjien Sir Ratu Mara et le ministre espagnol des affaires étrangères Monsieur Francisco Fernandez Ordoñez et avec la participation du Vice-Président de la Commission Monsieur Manuel Marin - ont également permis d'éclaircir un certain nombre de points supplémentaires et de donner des orientations précises pour les travaux restant à mener d'ici la prochaine réunion ministerielle.
The work was carried out in a calm and constructive manner, under the aegis of the Conference's two co-Chairmen, Prime Minister Ratu Mara of Fiji, and Mr Francisco Fernández Ordóñez, the Spanish Foreign Minister, with the participation of Mr Manuel Marín, Vice-President of the Commission. A number of additional points were clarified and clear guidelines given for the remaining work to be carried out by the next ministerial meeting.
