(6) Le Conseil, par un acte du 28 mai 1998(4), a établi le texte d'une convention concernant la compétence, la reconnaissance et l'exécution des décisions en matière matrimoniale et en a recommandé l'adoption par les États membres selon leurs règles constitutionnelles respectives.
(6) The Council, by an Act(4) dated 28 May 1998, drew up a Convention on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and recommended it for adoption by the Member States in accordance with their respective constitutional rules.

De ce fait, et en s'inspirant de l'article 1er de la convention de La Haye de 1970 sur la reconnaissance des divorces et des séparations de corps, le texte précise que le terme «juridiction» englobe, dans tous les textes de la convention, les autorités, judiciaires ou non, compétentes en matière matrimoniale.
For that reason, the text stipulates, as did Article 1 of the 1970 Hague Convention on the recognition of divorces and legal separations, that the term 'court` shall cover all the authorities, judicial or otherwise, with jurisdiction in matrimonial matters in the Member States.
