Implementation of Community legislation in relation to infrastructure charging and internalisation of external costs should give Member States additional possibilities both for better managing available capacities and optimising the transport system, and for financing new infrastructure and technologies.

C'est pourquoi je suis heureuse de pouvoir garantir au Parlement que les préoccupations suscitées par le rapport en matière de tarification des infrastructures seront pleinement prises en considération dans le prochain Livre blanc de la Commission sur la politique commune des transports, auquel j'ai fait référence auparavant et qui, bien qu'il y aura un certain retard par rapport aux dates initialement annoncées, nous permettra d'avancer vers la solution d'un des problèmes les plus complexes de cette politique des transports : la tarification des infrastructures.
I am therefore pleased to be able to assure Parliament that the concerns highlighted in the report in relation to charging for infrastructures will be taken fully into account in the next Commission White Paper on the common transport policy, which I referred to previously and which, although somewhat later than the dates initially envisaged, will enable us to make progress in solving one the most complex problems of that transport policy: charging for infrastructures.
