IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Dans un contexte environnemental plus large, EIONET (European Environmental Information and Observation Network : réseau européen d'information et d'observation pour l'environnement) a été instauré pour aider l'Agence européenne pour l'environnement (AEE) à produire des informations sur l'environnement en Europe pertinentes pour l'élaboration de politiques grâce à la fourniture de données nationales appropriées.
In a wider environmental context, the European Environmental Information and Observation Network (EIONET) was established to assist The European Environment Agency (EEA) in producing policy-relevant information on Europe's environment through the delivery of relevant national data.

Il a été élaboré par l’Agence européenne pour l’environnement (AEE), dans le cadre d'une initiative conjointe, en étroite collaboration avec le réseau européen d’information et d’observation pour l’environnement (EIONET) et avec les services de la Commission européenne.
It has been prepared by the European Environment Agency (EEA) as a joint undertaking in close collaboration with the European environment information and observation network (Eionet), as well as European Commission services.

2. Afin d’atteindre les objectifs de protection et d’amélioration de l’environnement fixés par le traité et par les programmes d’action communautaires successifs en matière d’environnement ainsi que l’objectif d’un développement durable, l’objectif de l’Agence et du réseau européen d’information et d’observation pour l’environnement consiste à fournir à la Communauté et aux États membres:

Réuni en session plénière les 10 et 11 décembre, le Comité économique et social (CES) a adopté (par 93 voix pour, 1 voix contre et 0 abstention) un avis sur la "Proposition de règlement du Conseil modifiant le règlement CEE n° 1210/90 du 7 mai 1990 relatif à la création de l'Agence européenne pour l'environnement et du réseau européen d'information et d'observation pour l'environnement" (rapporteur : Maria Candelas SÁNCHEZ MIGUEL, Groupe des Travailleurs, Espagne).
At is plenary session held on 10 and 11 December the Economic and Social Committee (ESC) adopted (by 93 votes to 1, with no abstentions) an Opinion on the Proposal for a Council Regulation (EC) amending Regulation EEC No. 1210/90 of 7 May 1990 on the establishment of the European Environment Agency and the European Environment Information and Observation Network. The rapporteur was Maria Candelas Sánchez Miguel, Spain, representing the ESC's Workers' Group.

L'AEE, et le "réseau européen d'information et d'observation pour l'environnement" dont elle assurera la coordination, sont destinés à fournir à la Communauté et aux Etats membres des données objectives, fiables et comparables au niveau européen qui leur permettront d'arrêter les mesures nécessaires pour protéger l'environnement et d'en évaluer l'impact.
The EEA, and the 'European environment information and observation network', which it will coordinate, are intended to provide the Community and the Member States with objective, reliable and comparable information at the European level to enable them to take the measures necessary to protect the environment, as well as to be able to assess the results of these measures.

DECISIONS DIVERSES (Adoptées sans débat) Développement et mise en oeuvre de l'Agence européenne pour l'environnement - Conclusions du Conseil "LE CONSEIL AYANT NOTE que le règlement (CEE) nu 1210/90 du Conseil, du 7 mai 1990 [5] , prévoit à l'article 20 une décision sur les nouvelles tâches de l'agence, sur la base d'un rapport de la Commission, au plus tard deux ans après l'entrée en vigueur dudit règlement ; que, conformément à l'article 21, le règlement est entré en vigueur le 30 octobre 1993, soit le jour suivant la décision des autorités compétentes de fixer le siège de l'agence à Copenhague ; AYANT EN OUTRE CONSTATE que l'agence n'a commencé à fonctionner qu'à la mi- 1994, que son personnel ne sera au complet qu'à la fin de 1995 et qu'il serait souhaitable de laisser s'écouler au moins deux années de pleine activité de l'agence avant de prendre une décision sur les nouvelles tâches à lui attribuer ; RAPPELANT que les articles 2 et 4 du règlement prévoient l'établissement, dans les Etats membres de l'agence, d'un réseau d'organisations pouvant contribuer à l'accomplissement des tâches de l'agence ; RAPPELANT EN OUTRE qu'en vertu de l'article 19 du règlement l'agence est ouverte aux pays qui ne sont pas membres des Communautés européennes s'ils concluent un accord avec la Communauté selon la procédure de l'article 228 du traité ; 1. MISCELLANEOUS DECISIONS (Adopted without debate) Development and implementation of the European Environment Agency - Council Conclusions "THE COUNCIL HAVING NOTED that Council Regulation (EEC) No 1210/90 of 7 May 1990 [6] makes provision in its Article 20 for a decision on further tasks for the Agency, based on a Report from the Commission, no later than two years after the entry into force of the Regulation; that, in accordance with Article 21, the Regulation came into force on 30 October 1993, the day following the decision of the competent authorities to locate the seat of the Agency in Copenhagen; HAVING FURTHER NOTED that the Agency started to operate only in mid-1994 with its full staff not in post until the end of 1995 and that it would be desirable to allow the Agency at least two fully operational years before a decision is made on the assignment of further tasks to it; RECALLING that Articles 2 and 4 of the Regulation provide for the building of a network of organizations in its member countries which can contribute to the completion of the tasks of the Agency; FURTHER RECALLING that Article 19 of the Regulation opens the Agency to countries which are not members of the European Communities which conclude an agreement with the Community following the procedure in Article 228 of the Treaty, 1.
