(a) The following Articles of this Framework Decision shall also apply to the enforcement of sentences where, pursuant to a requirement of Article 5(3) of Council Framework Decision 2002/584/JHA of 13 June 2002 on the European arrest warrant and the surrender procedures between Member States, the person is returned to the executing State in order to serve the sentence passed against him or her in the issuing State:

Comme dans la Convention entre les États membres des Communautés européennes sur l'exécution des condamnations pénales étrangères du 13 novembre 1991, l'État d'exécution dispose de deux options quant au mode d'exécution : les autorités compétentes de l'État d'exécution doivent, soit poursuivre l'exécution de la condamnation immédiatement, soit convertir la condamnation, par une procédure judiciaire ou administrative, en une décision de cet État, substituant ainsi à la sanction infligée dans l'État de condamnation une sanction prévue par la législation de l'État d'exécution pour la même infraction (art. 9).
As is the case in the Convention between the Member States of the European Communities on the enforcement of foreign criminal sentences of 13 November 1991, the State of enforcement has two options as to the manner of enforcement: the relevant authorities of the State of enforcement must either proceed to immediate enforcement of the sentence or convert the sentence, through a judicial or administrative procedure, into a decision of that State, thereby substituting for the penalty imposed in the sentencing State a penalty prescribed by the law of the administering State for the same offence (Article 9).
