This Regulation shall not affect either the continuation or modification, including the total or partial cancellation, of assistance approved by the Commission on the basis of Regulation (EC) No 1783/1999 or any other legislation applying to that assistance on 31 December 2006, which shall consequently apply thereafter to that assistance or the projects concerned until their closure.

For the purposes of the sixth subparagraph of Annex VII(D)(1) to Regulation (EC) No 1493/1999 and paragraph 8 of this Article, use of a language other than the official language of a country shall be deemed traditional for the purposes of traditional terms if use of that language is provided for in the legislation of the country concerned and if that language has been in continual use for the traditional term for at least 25 years.

The Commission initiated this procedure because of failure to provide sufficient information on some aspects of the aid: application of the criteria laid down in the specific Italian legislation on state financial support in the region; identification of the provisions of a 1989 Law on the financing of job-creation schemes in the region following the crisis in the steel industry, possible refinancing under that Law and the period for which it is to remain in force; the conditions on which the planned financing was made (subsidized loans and equity holding in the company); the relevant information and guidelines for the examination of state aid in the fishing and aquaculture industry.
