B. considérant que l’élargissement figure à l’agenda européen depuis les années 1960 déjà; considérant que, depuis le premier élargissement en 1973, l'Union européenne s'est progressivement agrandie, le nombre de ses membres étant passé des six membres fondateurs aux 27 (bientôt 28) actuels; considérant qu’un certain nombre de pays aspirent à devenir membres de l’UE, perçue comme la garantie d’un avenir sûr, démocratique et prospère;

272. exprime son inquiétude quant au fait qu'au niveau européen, comme l'indique le rapport Eurobaromètre spécial 399 sur l'accès et la participation à la culture depuis 2013, les budgets publics consacrés à la protection et à la promotion du patrimoine culturel diminuent considérablement, tout comme la participation à des activités culturelles traditionnelles; estime par conséquent que les nouveaux instruments de l'Union visant à soutenir l'agenda européen de la culture, comme les programmes Europe créative et Horizon 2020, ou encore la plate-forme culturelle Europeana, doivent être renforcés;

Is concerned that at a European level – as reported in the Eurobarometer Special Report 399 on cultural access and participation from 2013 – public budgets dedicated to the safeguarding and promotion of cultural heritage are noticeably decreasing, as is participation in traditional cultural activities; considers therefore that the new Union instruments to support the European Agenda for Culture – such as the Creative Europe and Horizon 2020 programmes, or the Europeana cultural platform – must be strengthened;
