Le Parlement européen, le Conseil et la Commission sont parvenus à un accord, approuvé aujourd’hui par le Conseil, sur la proposition de la Commission relative à un corps européen de garde-frontières et de garde-côtes, posant ainsi des jalons pour l’agence renforcée qui sera opérationnelle dès cet été.
The European Parliament, Council and Commission have reached an agreement, endorsed by the Council today, on the Commission's proposal on a European Border and Coast Guard, paving the way for the reinforced Agency to be up and running starting this summer.

L’Agence sera également chargée d’assurer une plus grande convergence dans l’évaluation des demandes de protection internationale sur tout le territoire de l’Union, de renforcer la coopération pratique et l’échange d’informations entre les États membres, de promouvoir le droit et les normes opérationnelles de l’Union visant à faciliter le respect des obligations de suivi en matière d'asile du RAEC, ainsi que de fournir une assistance opérationnelle et technique accrue.
The Agency will also be tasked with ensuring a greater convergence in the assessment of applications for international protection across the Union, strengthening the practical cooperation and information exchange between Member States and promoting Union law and operational standards regarding asylum monitoring compliance with the Common European Asylum Ssytem and providing increased operational and technical assistance.

18. The Community Borders Code, including the non-binding practical guide for border guards to be issued in September 2006, the Regulation on local border traffic and the Regulation establishing the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (FRONTEX) together represent a legal and operational framework through which border controls can be further developed to a high standard.
