1. accueille favorablement la communication précitée de la Commission et estime que le retrait ou la modification de la grande majorité des propositions qu'elle vise contribuera en fait à simplifier l'environnement législatif communautaire; prie toutefois instamment la Commission de tenir dûment compte des objections soulevées par le Président du Parlement dans sa lettre du 23 janvier 2006;

Welcomes the above-mentioned Commission communication, and considers that the withdrawal or modification of the great majority of the proposals mentioned in it will in fact contribute to a simplification of the Community legislative environment, but insists that the Commission should take into proper consideration the objections raised by the President of the Parliament in his letter of 23 January 2006;

5. prie instamment la Commission et les États membres de reprendre les travaux législatifs en vue de l'adoption d'un instrument législatif pour la mise en œuvre de l'article 9 de la convention dans l'Union européenne, étant donné que ce dernier pilier n'a pas encore été totalement transposé dans le droit communautaire; accueille favorablement le projet de la Commission d'organiser une conférence relative à l'accès à la justice, en juin 2008, afin de donner un nouvel élan aux travaux législatifs au sein de la Communauté;
5. Urges the Commission and the Member States to resume the legislative work aimed at adopting a legislative instrument which implements Article 9 of the Convention within the European Union, since this last remaining pillar has not been fully transposed into Community law; welcomes the plan by the Commission to organise a conference on access to justice in June 2008 in order to give further impetus to the legislative work within the Community;
