La proposition de compromis de la présidence luxembourgeoise pour sortir de l'impasse après 27 ans de tergiversations sur "la proposition de directive complétant le statut de la société européenne concernant la place des travailleurs" a pour mérite de constituer une base pour tenter de trouver un accord politique avant la fin de cette année sur l'implication des salariés dans le statut de la société européenne (le sujet est à l'ordre du jour du Conseil Affaires sociales du 15 décembre 1997).
