Is concerned by reports that Pakistan is considering exporting nuclear weapons to third countries; expects the EU and its Members States, despite official denials of the reports, to make clear to Pakistan that the export of nuclear weapons is unacceptable; calls on Pakistan, as a nuclear weapon state, to legally ban exports of all nuclear weapons-related material or know-how and to actively contribute to international non-proliferation efforts; considers that the signing and ratification of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) by Pakistan – as well as India – would demonstrate a strong commitment to peaceful regional co-existence and enormously contribute to the security of the whole region;

2. Le présent règlement s’applique sans préjudice des conventions sur le choix de la loi applicable conclues conformément à la loi de l’État membre participant dont la juridiction est saisie avant le 21 juin 2012.
2. This Regulation shall be without prejudice to agreements on the choice of applicable law concluded in accordance with the law of a participating Member State whose court is seized before 21 June 2012.

Néanmoins, les juridictions ne devraient pas pouvoir appliquer l’exception d’ordre public pour écarter une disposition de la loi d’un autre État lorsque c’est contraire à la Charte des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne, en particulier à son article 21, qui interdit toute forme de discrimination.
However, the courts should not be able to apply the public policy exception in order to disregard a provision of the law of another State when to do so would be contrary to the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and in particular Article 21 thereof, which prohibits all forms of discrimination.

21. estime que les qualifications acquises dans le cadre d'activités sportives doivent être reconnues sur la base des systèmes de référence communs du futur cadre européen des qualifications; se félicite de la proposition de la Commission consistant à inclure le sport dans le champ d'application du système européen de transfert de crédits dans le domaine de l’enseignement et de la formation professionnels; estime que davantage de transparence et la reconnaissance mutuelle des diplômes relatifs à la prestation de services dans le domaine sportif dans l'Union européenne contribueraient à la libre circulation des personnes (étudiants, sportifs et sportives, travailleurs et employeurs) et à l'insertion durable des athlètes sur le marché du travail, et favoriseraient également la cohésion sociale en Europe et la réalisation des objectifs de la stratégie de Lisbonne, ce secteur présentant un potentiel important en termes de création d'emplois;
21. Considers that the qualifications acquired through sports activity should be recognised under the common reference system embodied in the future European Qualifications Framework; welcomes the Commission proposal to include sport in the field of application of the European Credit Transfer System for Vocational Education and Training; considers that increased transparency and mutual recognition of licenses and diplomas for the provision of services in the sports sector in the European Union would contribute to the free movement of persons (students, sportsmen and women, workers and employers) as well as to the long-term assimilation of athletes on the employment market, and that it would also contribute to social cohesion in Europe and to achieving the Lisbon Strategy targets, as this is an area with a high potential for job creation;

Par ailleurs, la recherche sur les cellules souches embryonnaires est punissable par la loi dans certains États membres, lesquels contribueraient ensuite, à travers des fonds communautaires, à subventionner un type de recherche illégal dans leur pays.
Moreover, embryo stem cell research is liable to punishment in certain Member States, which would then, through Community funds, be helping to subsidise research that is illegal in their own country.

(2) Dans sa communication au Conseil et au Parlement européen intitulée "Modernisation du droit des sociétés et renforcement du gouvernement d'entreprise dans l'Union européenne - Un plan pour avancer", du 21 mai 2003 , la Commission conclut qu'une simplification et une modernisation de la directive 77/91/CEE contribueraient de manière significative à promouvoir l'efficience et la compétitivité des entreprises sans pour autant réduire la protection dont jouissent leurs actionnaires et créanciers.
(2) In its Communication to the Council and the European Parliament entitled "Modernising Company Law and Enhancing Corporate Governance in the European Union – A Plan to Move Forward" of 21 May 2003 the Commission draws the conclusion that a simplification and modernisation of Directive 77/91/EEC would significantly contribute to the promotion of business efficiency and competitiveness without reducing the protection offered to shareholders and creditors.

- (DE) J’ai voté contre la résolution, parce que son paragraphe 21, qui a été adopté, enjoint le secrétaire général du Parlement européen à poursuivre les négociations avec le gouvernement luxembourgeois pour faciliter la mutation de Luxembourg à Bruxelles de tous les fonctionnaires qui contribueraient à une gestion plus efficace et plus économique du secrétariat du Parlement et à une amélioration des services aux membres en poste à Bruxelles.
– (DE) I voted against the resolution because of the adoption here of paragraph 23, which instructs the Secretary-General of Parliament to continue negotiations with the Government of Luxembourg with a view to allowing the transfer from Luxembourg to Brussels of all officials who are needed in Brussels for more efficient and cost-effective management of Parliament's Secretariat and for an improved service to Members.
