Je sais, Monsieur le Commissaire, que vous leur accordez beaucoup d’importance et, très franchement, depuis que nous suivons ce dossier, je suis frappée par le déséquilibre qu’il y a dans la façon d’appréhender l’intégration, l’appropriation des accords de Bâle II. Nous savons le rôle qu’ont joué les Américains dans la définition, dans les négociations de Bâle II et nous voyons aujourd’hui un grand point d’interrogation sur le calendrier, sur le champ d’application de cet accord de l’autre côté de l’Atlantique.
I know, Commissioner, that you attach great importance to them and, quite frankly, since we have been following this matter, I have been struck by the imbalance that exists in the way the integration and appropriation of the Basel II Agreements are perceived. We know what role the Americans have played in defining, and conducting negotiations on, Basel II, and today we are witnessing a large question mark hanging over the schedule for, and the scope of, this agreement on the other side of the Atlantic.
