Oliver: Honourable senators, I have the honour to table, in both official languages, the report of the Canadian parliamentary delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the Parliamentary Panel within the Framework of the WTO Public Forum 2009 and the Nineteenth Session of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organization, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from September 30 to October 1, 2009.

- Je vous remercie, Monsieur le Commissaire.En ce qui concerne le dernier passage de votre intervention, Monsieur le Commissaire, à propos de la conférence parlementaire, je voudrais informer mes collègues que l’Union interparlementaire et le Parlement européen sont convenus de préparer une brochure qui rassemble les interventions, le débat et les conclusions de la Conférence interparlementaire qui s’est tenue à Genève en février dernier, à laquelle étaient présents plusieurs collègues qui vont prendre la parole maintenant, et qui a été en quelque sorte l’acte fondateur de cette conférence parlementaire consacrée aux thèmes de l’Organisation mondiale du commerce.

In relation to the last part of your speech, Commissioner, regarding the Parliamentary Conference, I would like to inform the Members that the Inter-parliamentary Union and the European Parliament have agreed to make available a brochure featuring the speeches, the debate and the conclusions of the Parliamentary Conference which we held in Geneva last February, at which a number of the Members who are about to take the floor were present and which, to all intents and purposes, laid the foundations for this Parliamentary Conference on the World Trade Organisation’s agenda.

– (FR) Mr Rübig, I am very much in favour of the suggestion to organise, structure and make more permanent the consultation between the governments and the WTO, to set up an organisation and parliamentary structure which could be derived from the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
