Karel Van Miert, Commissaire chargé de la politique de concurrence, d'imposer des amendes à Acerinox SA (Espagne), ALZ NV (Belgique), Acciai Speciali Terni SpA (Italie), Avesta Sheffield AB (Suède/UK), Krupp Thyssen Nirosta GmbH (Allemagne) et Usinor SA (France) pour leur participation à un accord de prix contraire à l'article 65 du traité CECA.
Acting on a proposal from Mr Van Miert, the member responsible for competition policy, the Commission today decided to impose fines on a number of steel firms for taking part in a price-fixing agreement contrary to Article 65 of the ECSC Treaty: they are Acerinox SA, Spain; ALZ NV, Belgium; Acciai Speciali Terni SpA, Italy; Avesta Sheffield AB, Sweden and UK; Krupp Thyssen Nirosta GmbH, Germany; and Usinor, France.

À l'issue de l'opération, Krupp, Thyssen, Falck, Tadfin et Riva acquerront le contrôle en commun d'AST.
Subsequent to the operation AST will be jointly- controlled by Krupp, Thyssen, Falck, Tadfin and Riva.
