Compte tenu de la durée et de la gravité des restrictions, et du fait qu'il y a eu récidive de la part des trois entreprises, la Commission, tout en tenant compte de la mauvaise conjoncture de l'industrie du verre dans une partie de la période concernée, a décidé d'infliger, pour les violations à l'article 85(1), les amendes suivantes : à Fabbrica Pisana SpA 7.000.000 ECU, à Società Italiana Vetro-SIV SpA 4.700.000 ECU, à Vernante Pennitalia SpA 1.700.000 ECU.
In view of the seriousness and duration of the infringements, and the fact that the three undertakings have committed infringements in the past, the Commission, while taking account of the economic difficulties facing the glass industry during a part of the relevant period, has decided to impose the following fines for the infringements of Article 85(1): - 7,000,000 ECU on Fabbrica Pisana SpA, - 4,700,000 ECU on Società Italiana Vetro - SIV SpA, - 1,700,000 ECU on Vernante Pennitalia SpA.

La Commission a arrêté aujourd'hui une décision dans laquelle elle constate que les sociétés Fabbrica Pisana SpA, filiale du groupe français Saint-Gobain, Società italiana Vetro-Siv, filiale du holding d'Etat italien EFIM, et Vernante Pennitalia SpA, filiale du groupe américain PPG-Industries, ont enfreint les dispositions de l'article 85(1) du Traité, en adoptant des accords et des pratiques concertées restrictifs de concurrence sur le marché du verre plat en Italie, largement contrôlé par les trois sociétés.
I. The Commission today has adopted a decision finding that the undertakings Fabbrica Pisana SpA (subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, the French group), Società Italiana Vetro - SIV SpA (subsidiary of the state-owned holding company EFIM) and Vernante Pennitalia SpA (subsidiary of PPG-Industries, an American group) have infringed Article 85(1) of the Treaty by restricting competition on the Italian flat glass market, controlled to a large extent by the three companies.
