Brussels, 01 February 2012 – The 2012 EU-China Year of Intercultural Dialogue will be officially launched today by Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and Cai Wu, Minister of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.

In this context, the 2012 EU-China Year of Intercultural Dialogue reflects a commitment by both parties to continue opening up opportunities for mutual understanding, sustainable cooperation and long-term policy dialogue.

L’Année du dialogue interculturel UE-Chine offre aussi la possibilité aux institutions culturelles, organisations et autres parties intéressées européennes et chinoises de mettre en place et de développer une coopération structurée et durable pour 2012 et au-delà.
The EU-China Year of Intercultural Dialogue also offers opportunities for Chinese and EU cultural institutions, organisations and other stakeholders to establish and develop structured and sustainable cooperation during 2012 and beyond.

C’est aussi la raison pour laquelle 2011 sera désignée «Année de la Jeunesse Europe-Chine», avec pour objectif de renforcer la compréhension mutuelle entre les jeunes Européens et Chinois, et de promouvoir le dialogue interculturel.
