(4) An establishment that is notified under subparagraph (1)(d)(i) or (ii) must, if a preliminary inquiry indicates that the root cause of the adverse reaction is attributable to an activity that it carried out, conduct an investigation into the adverse reaction.

Cela soulève toutefois une autre question. Si l'hôpital effectue un suivi auprès de ses patients, ou si le médecin fait le suivi auprès des patients de sa clinique, et qu'un d'eux signale un malaise qui semble être attribuable à un médicament en particulier, est-ce que l'hôpital ou la clinique a le droit de faire un suivi en rapport à l'effet indésirable désigné selon les règles applicables au Canada?
A question arises, however: If the hospital follows up with the patient from that hospital, or the doctor follows up from the patient in that clinic, and there is a reporting of someone feeling rotten in a context that the doctor or the hospital thinks this may well be an adverse reaction to that particular drug, under the current Canadian situation, does the hospital or the clinic have the right to follow that up as an adverse reaction?

Selon moi, il serait problématique pour quelqu’un d’être opposé en même temps à la prise de conscience du droit à la santé génésique et sexuelle (qui, en termes généraux, est un euphémisme qui désigne le droit à l’avortement) et à la facilitation de l’accès aux méthodes de contraception afin de prévenir les grossesse non désirées et les avortements. S’opposer en même temps à ces deux notions reviendrait, selon moi, à ignorer la réalité, ce qui aurait des conséquences indésirables.
I would find it problematic if someone were simultaneously opposed to awareness of the right to reproductive and sexual health (which, generally speaking, is a euphemism for the right to an abortion) and the mention of facilitating access to contraception in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies and abortions. Opposing both at the same time I would see as a reality gap that could only result in undesirable consequences.

Néanmoins, on semblait surtout se demander s'il fallait déclarer uniquement les réactions indésirables graves aux médicaments. Nous savons que, selon la définition, une réaction indésirable à un médicament est une « réaction nocive et non intentionnelle à une drogue qui survient lorsque la drogue est utilisée selon des doses normales ou selon des doses expérimentales, aux fins du diagnostic, du traitement ou de la prévention d'une maladie ou de la modification d'une fonction organique ».
We understand that a working definition of an adverse drug reaction is “a noxious or unintended response to a drug occurring at doses normally used or tested for the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of a disease or modification of an organic function”.
