In other words, a small though definite step is better than an impossible leap, especially in an area such as this one, in which such a step seems perfectly attainable if the method described above is followed and in which, at the same time, it is unquestionably very important that progress be made in response to the growing internationalisation of crime and the urgent need to facilitate the achievement of more effective results through closer cooperation and the sharing of resources amongst the Member States - and also at the same time, more efficient use of overall resources with a view to securing better results.
