J’ai voté pour cette résolution car j’ai le sentiment que l’Union européenne et ses États membres ne pouvaient ignorer les pertes humaines et matérielles causées par cette affreuse tragédie sans précédent qu’a été le terrible raz-de-marée qui a frappé l’Asie et l’océan Indien.
I voted in favour of this resolution because I feel that the EU and its Member States could not turn a blind eye to the human and material loss caused by the appalling and unprecedented tragedy of the terrible seaquake that hit Asia and the Indian Ocean.

Je voudrais moi aussi présenter mes condoléances et exprimer ma solidarité envers toutes les personnes affectées par cette tragédie, tant en termes de pertes humaines que matérielles.
I would like to join with the feeling of grief and express my solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy, in terms of both the human and material losses.
