Le Réseau européen d’observation de données du milieu marin (EMODnet) permet aux chercheurs, aux autorités publiques, aux entreprises et à la société civile de rechercher, visionner, télécharger et utiliser des données et des produits de données provenant de plus de 100 organismes de recherche marine sur la bathymétrie, la géologie, les habitats, la physique, la chimie et la vie marine des mers en Europe.
The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) allows researchers, public authorities, business and civil society to search for, view, download and use data and data products from over 100 marine research bodies on the bathymetry, geology, habitats, physics, chemistry and marine life of the seas around Europe.

This intense shipping activity heightens the risk of accidental pollution and, possibly, illicit discharges, so there is a high need for integrated surveillance of maritime activities and operations as well as a regional focus on implementation of all international regulations dealing with the safety and security of shipping and the protection of the marine environment from ship-sourced pollution.

La commissaire Damanaki, pour sa part, interviendra lors de la session plénière en prélude à l'adoption de l'avis sur le développement d'une politique maritime intégrée et la connaissance du milieu marin 2020, qui souscrit aux propositions de la Commission, mais préconise que les collectivités locales et régionales soient consultées de manière plus régulière et systématique dans ce domaine.
