In our motion for a resolution today we criticise the actions of the Kenyan Government, which invited the President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, and then failed to arrest him. Arrest warrants have been issued against Omar al-Bashir for war crimes and genocide.

Bill Blaikie (Winnipeg Transcona, NPD): Monsieur le président, je pense qu'il est important de prendre bonne note que cela n'émane pas du gouvernement, cela n'émane pas des gouvernements provinciaux. C'est plutôt le ministre de la Justice qui a invité le comité à examiner cette question, je suppose parce que le ministre a accueilli favorablement la demande de MADD de faire réexaminer cette question.
Mr. Bill Blaikie (Winnipeg Transcona, NDP): Mr. Chairman, I think it's an important thing to note that this is not coming from the government, it's not coming from provincial governments, it's coming from whatever motivated the Minister of Justice to suggest that this committee have a look at this issue, presumably because the minister had some sympathy for the request by MADD that this issue be revisited.
