Calls on the Commission and the governments of the Member States to grant financial support to TV Belsat and to urge the Belarusian Government officially to register Belsat in Belarus; calls on the Belarusian Government, as a sign of goodwill and positive change, to enable the Belarusian European Humanities University (EHU) in exile in Vilnius (Lithuania) to return legally to Belarus on the basis of genuine guarantees that it will be able to operate freely and re-establish itself under suitable conditions for its future development in Minsk, in particular by allowing it to re-establish its library in Minsk by providing the premises and creating the conditions which will enable it to make the extensive collections in Belarusian, Russian, English, German and French open and accessible to all;

Dans l’intervalle toutefois, et avant toute demande du Conseil et tout lancement de la procédure, nous travaillons avec le ministère néerlandais des affaires étrangères, lui fournissant les informations requises, lui en expliquant la portée, lui indiquant les éléments positifs et négatifs à prendre en considération et lui présentant les conséquences pour ces territoires d’un nouveau statut des régions ultrapériphériques. J’espère que les informations transmises jusqu’ici par la Commission aideront le gouvernement néerlandais à trancher.
But in the meantime, before the Council has asked us, or before the whole process is started, we have been working with the Netherlands Foreign Ministry, providing them with the information, what this would mean, what kind of pros and cons should be taken into account, what the consequences would be for those territories if they become new outermost regions, and I hope that this information that the Commission has provided so far can help the Dutch Government to make the decision.

52. salue le "concept" d'intégration des Rom, présenté par le gouvernement tchèque; rappelle toutefois au gouvernement sa demande visant à ce que la République tchèque cherche une solution au problème de la minorité Rom, notamment en ce qui concerne la suppression des pratiques discriminatoires des institutions nationales et des autorités publiques (administration publique, police, justice, éducation); renouvelle donc son appel auprès de la République tchèque pour qu'elle lui fournisse avant la fin des négociations d'adhésion un engagement politique sur cette question expliquant comment elle entend résoudre avant la fin de l'actuelle décennie les problèmes des Rom;
52. Welcomes the 'concept' for integration of the Roma submitted by the Czech Government; points out to the government, however, its request that the Czech Republic take further steps to resolve the problems of the Roma minority, especially as regards the abolition of discriminatory practices in state institutions and public authorities (government departments, the police, the courts and the school system); thus reiterates its request to receive a political commitment from the Czech Republic in this area before the end of the accession negotiations which clarifies how the Czech Republic plans to resolve the problems of the Roma before the end of this decade;
