Where such provision already applies in their national legislation, Member States may continue to exclude domestic servants employed by a natural person from the scope of this Directive’.

Les gens de mer sont reconnus comme appartenant à une catégorie spéciale de travailleurs et, eu égard à la nature mondiale des activités de transport maritime et aux différentes sphères de compétence avec lesquelles elles peuvent entrer en contact, ils nécessitent une protection spéciale, particulièrement en ce qui concerne les contacts avec les autorités publiques.
Seafarers are recognised as a special category of worker and, given the global nature of the shipping industry and the different jurisdictions that they may be brought into contact with, need special protection, especially in relation to contacts with public authorities.
